  • Abstract:In recent several years,Beijing government has adopted a comprehensive policy namely non-capital function dispersion ( industrial upgrading, housing regularization and certificate regulation) to slow down the over-congregation of migrants in the city. In 2016,the total number and the growth rate of floating population in Beijing began to decrease for the first time. Based on the 2015 Migrant Dynamic Monitoring Data, this paper uses descriptive statistics and binary Logistic model to look into the specific disparity of the demographic and socio-economic status between two migrant groups in Beijing, those have chosen to settle down in the rural residential committees and those in the urban residential committees. In a lens of urban-rural and formal-informal duality,it is found that a series of variables, such as lowers education level, less stable employment and shorter residence length, can predict a high probability of choosing to live in the rural residential committees. It is proved that the settlement intention of Beijing' s migrants living in the rural residential committees is significantly lower than that among their rural counterparts. Those sheltered in the rural residential committees are the targets of the " non-capital function dispersion" policy, but the comprehensive socio-spatial effects of the policy implementation should be studied further.
